Sassafras, also known as “Sassafras albidum,” comes from the leaves of an aromatic tree that is indigenous to North America and Eastern Asia. The name “Sassafras” is given to three different species of trees, two of which come from Asia and one that is grown domestically. It is often said that sassafras has a very pleasant odor, with a bitter lemon note.
